Owen Lewis

 
Owen Lewis is a theatre director based in London. His background is in new-writing and comedy. Most recent credits include developing and directing the national tour of Suggs Live (a one-man-show with the Madness frontman) and Hardeep Singh Kohli’s Indian Takeaway, a show set in a kitchen where the Sikh chef cooks a curry live on stage to compete with an ordered takeway. Other more normal directing credits include the stage premiere of How To Lose Friends And Alienate People (Soho Theatre); Grumpy Old Women (National Tour & Novello Theatre); Pete And Dud Come Again (Leicester Square Theatre); The Lady of Burma (Riverside Studios & National Tour); an open air A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Abney Park Cemetery, London); and Got To Be Happy (Bush Theatre). He has also worked with the cult British comedian Stewart Lee on two madcap comedy plays: Johnson & Boswell: Late But Live (Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh) and the sequel, Elizabeth & Raleigh: Late But Live (National Tour & Bloomsbury Theatre, London). Both shows featured the comedians Simon Munnery and Miles Jupp. Some of Owen Lewis’s favourite shows have been working with the OBIE award-wining American playwright Adam Bock on the European Premieres of his plays: Swimming In The Shallows and The Typoographer’s Dream (both London and Edinburgh). He has also been a recipient of the RSC Buzz Goodbody Director’s Award.
